The Palouse is a lot busier than people expect. On any given weekend, there might be a concert at John's Alley, a play at the Kenworthy, a wine tasting at a local restaurant, a group hike on Moscow Mountain, and a Cougar game — all happening simultaneously. The trick is knowing where to look.
The Palouse Calendar (That's Us)
We built The Palouse Calendar specifically to solve this problem. We aggregate events from 29 different sources across Moscow and Pullman — venue websites, university calendars, city event pages, chamber of commerce listings — and put them all in one place. You can filter by category (music, outdoors, food, family, etc.) and by city.
How to use it:
- Visit palousecalendar.com any time to see what's coming up
- Subscribe to the daily or weekly email digest to get events delivered to your inbox
- Save events you're interested in (they persist in your browser)
- Follow us on Instagram (@palousecalendar) for highlights
Other Ways to Stay in the Loop
Moscow-Pullman Daily News
The local newspaper covers major events and has an events listing. Their weekend preview is worth reading.
University Calendars
UI's events calendar and WSU's Presence platform list campus events. We pull from both, but it's worth browsing if you're specifically interested in academic or student events.
Facebook Groups & Pages
"Moscow Idaho Community Events," "What's happening in Pullman," and various neighborhood groups share event info. It's scattered and informal, but sometimes you'll catch something that doesn't make it to official calendars.
Venue Social Media
Follow your favorite venues on Instagram or Facebook. John's Alley, Hunga Dunga, The Kenworthy, Paradise Creek, and the local theaters all post their upcoming lineups regularly.
Word of Mouth
Seriously. The Palouse is small enough that you'll hear about things at the coffee shop, the co-op, or the brewery. Tell people you're looking for things to do and you'll get recommendations fast.
The Weekend Playbook
Here's a typical great weekend on the Palouse:
Friday night: Dinner downtown, then live music at John's Alley or a show at the Kenworthy. Or trivia at Shattuck.
Saturday morning: Moscow Farmers Market (May–October). Coffee at Bucer's or One World.
Saturday afternoon: Hike on Moscow Mountain or ride the Chipman Trail. Or browse BookPeople and Brused Books.
Saturday night: Dinner and drinks at a brewery. Check what's playing at any of the venues.
Sunday: Brunch, a walk, maybe a matinee at the Kenworthy. Or drive out to Kamiak Butte for a hike with a view.
Never Say "There's Nothing to Do"
One of the most common things you'll hear from people who've just moved to the Palouse is "there's nothing to do here." Within a few months, those same people are overbooked every weekend. The events exist — you just need to know where to look. That's why we built this calendar.
